50 Things
1. I love the English language, speaking and writing, but I have always had this odd habit of getting my sayings mixed up. I will combine various figures of speech in my own unique way, that usually sounds ridiculous and has people either confused or hysterical with laughter.

2. I don’t need to drink to behave completely drunk.

3. I like my tea in a mug but am fussy when it comes to mugs – my perfect mug is on the small side and made of thin china. I swear the tea tastes better that way!

4. I don’t eat red meat or chicken. Even as a child I hated the taste of meat, so becoming a vegetarian in my early twenties as a result of yoga, was actually rather easy.

5. I am a natural blonde but have had brown, white and even purple hair at certain points in my life. The lessons learnt from these experiences are: a) never trust a man to buy your hair-dye for you and
b) go to the hairdresser rather than try doing anything fancy by yourself at home!

6. I love easily, too easily.

7. I embrace life.

8. I always try and do too many things. My mom calls it tying the day to an elastic.

9. I am addicted to sweet-chilli sauce and put it on almost everything. Actually I just love chillis in general!

10. I love music, words, interesting people and exciting places.

11. I have a restless soul and a heart like a gypsy.

12. I try to maintain a positive attitude at all times.

13. People are drawn to me and tell me their life-story and private secrets very easily. This makes me feel humbled, responsible, happy and afraid all at the same time.

14. I have learnt the hard way, to never say never.

15. I wore a pink wedding dress on my wedding day. (Before we were friends, one of my closest friends did too.)

16. My favourite flower is the Tulip. I also love Daisies, Sun Flowers and Roses.

17. I am a published poet. I have been writing poetry and prose since my early teens. I ran a poetry website in my twenties, and have had a poem published in a local anthology. I have literally hundreds of poems stashed away in various places but plan to post some on this blog.

18. I love flower arranging, painting, writing poetry and reading.

19. I can see myself being happy doing so many things in life, that it is often really difficult to just stick to one thing! Life is too short dammit!

20. I use a soup spoon far too often when making tea.

21. I believe it is better to regret the things you have done rather than the things you haven’t!

22. I like eating deserts and yogurts with a teaspoon.

23.  I am of the opinion that life is too short to re-watch movies or re-read books. (This said however, there are some amazing books and brilliant movies whose little bits of wisdom or snippets of humour, are only caught and fully appreciated a second or third time around.)

24. When I was young I had 3 imaginary friends. I believe they were spirits who played with me.

25. I have always wanted to learn how to speak French and at one stage did a short course before a family holiday in France. I still can’t speak it properly, but I think it is the most beautiful language on earth.

26. I plan to write a book before I die. (I am not sure if the online novel counts!)

27. I am a bit of an adrenalin junkee, love fast things, roller-coasters, have bungee jumped and always wanted to skydive, but having procreated has changed all this! (I think I will save sky-diving for my 60th birthday.)

28.  Before he was well known, I read John Edward’s first book and it changed my life. I honestly love that man. I once had a dream that I levitated into a talk he was giving and then later gave him a foot massage. Yes, I am strange!

29. I love old-fashioned things, especially crockery (teapots, tea cups, cake stands), jewellery and furniture.

30. I never thought I would have felt this way, but I just love being a mom and having babies. If I could, I would have a big family.

31. I used to collect all manner of things, until I pruned my collecting habits. Now I only collect egg-cups, teapots, interesting bowls, crystals and spoons. Ok, so that is still rather a lot. (I am a Taurean, so I blame my star sign)

32.  Yoga changed my life.

33. I really want to make a difference in this world.

34. My greatest fear is that I will die having regrets. My second biggest fear is people using the words ‘nice’ or ‘boring’ when referring to me.

35. I am not good with endings. If I am having fun, I just want the night/occasion/moment to last forever. I used to happily sit in the smoking section of our favourite coffee shop with my mom, just because I knew that if she could smoke, we would linger longer.

36. I don’t do goodbyes (see above point) I prefer to say ‘until we meet again’.

37.  I believe in ghosts, angels, guides, reincarnation and the power of love.

38. I dislike ignorance, negative, judgmental people, cruelty and apathy.

39. I loved doing a major in comparative religious studies and would actually love to study religion even further.

40. I can quote chunks of Shakespeare, my favourite being from MacBeth.

41. Get me drinking and I will recite the above, get rather loud, flirt dangerously, take too many photos and if you are really lucky, tell my favourite joke with a French accent.

42. I am passionate about the Gayatri mantra, as it has helped me at so many times in my life. (If you don’t know what I am talking about – email me and let it improve your life as well!)

43. I have seen dead people and animals. The ones that are alive, scare me more.

44. I used to never refuse a dare. Silly me.

45. I like to have my hands and toes manicured. It is my little piece of vanity.

46. I am addicted to chocolate and sex. I used to be addicted to driving fast as well, but once again having kids changed that. Come to think of it, they changed the first two as well, which may explain my expanding waist line. Shit!

47. I would love to own a cat and call him Gus (from the musical Cats).

48. I am an empath.

49. I love cocktails with cherries in them.

50. I love analyzing people and myself.

That’s it, 50 done. If you are reading this and have a blog, why not do your own list of 50 things, as it is an interesting exercise!

Number 22. Would that be the Sahara or the Gobi Desert?
Liked your 50 things. I realise I know quite a lot about you as I knew most of your 50 things.

I now realise I don’t know you!!! But what I do know is that all those 50 things are wrapped up to make the loving, giving and forgiving person that I love as my own. If I had been blessed with a daughter I would have wanted her to be just like you.

Hi loved reading your list, please let me have a copy of that Mantra. You are in my opinion a very special Taurean indeed and everyone who knows you is indeed very privileged. You are the most serene being I know don’t ever stop being you, not for anything in this world. Angel Child I love you to bits, Mimi
