Hurricane Nina

by Caroline on February 8, 2010

There is a hurricane in our house and her name is Nina. She is a Category 11 (as in 11 months) and shows no mercy. She causes chaos wherever she crawls and leaves a trail of debris behind her.

Yes, my cute and cuddly baby is a naughty, over-active character of note. Today she broke another one of my mother’s things (a beautiful bowl with a lemon design on it, displayed in the kitchen). You seriously can’t turn your back on her for a split second, as she is fast and furious. She screams if placed in the playpen, but honestly that is the only place she is safe and the contents of the house are safe. She crawls, she climbs, and she eats everything in site. She loves to rip up the plants in my dad’s courtyard garden and eat the soil. She takes delight trying to stick her fingers in every hole she sees. She pulls hair, makes a noise and today my darling girl BIT ME! Yes, she dug her teeth into my skin, as she was annoyed with me. My mom and I were just saying we fear she will be a biter and perhaps we should have not thrown that out to the universe, for this evening she did just that. Oh dear me. The thing is she is also really cute, cuddly, friendly, jolly, full of life and spirit, energetic, playful, adventurous, confident, loving and a delight to me. And so it is – she is a hurricane and I, the hurricane chaser.

Hahahaha – she sounds perfectly healthy! Glad to hear that I’m not the only parent who was bad enough to confine my overactive child to a playpen. She’s absolutely too cute for words, as is Amy ;)

Ag cute man – I love that little thing – such a character!!! Amazing how their personality and spirit comes out more and more. They are both such great little girls and I think balance each other out beautifully. As for the biting, well at least it’s now and not at toddler stage!! Can’t believe she is almost 1 – it’s just too hard to comprehend.

ps.. nothing wrong with playpens is there? Mine was such a saviour when Sarah was also so curious – I too could not leave her out of my sight as she was also into everything.

shes so cute man. such a huge character. amazing how they are so different but as Ron says they balance each other out. never used a playpen myself but if I had a child who ate dirt I may consider it. LOL good luck with the hurricane. xxx

I love this kid to bits – not bites – she is such a character. Amy is such a patient “big little” sister. I just know they are going to be great friends. Thanks for sharing them. lol
