Today we went out to Canal walk – our first outing in over a week, due to the move. My children have had cabin fever and were both excited to go out. Nina was too cute sitting and relaxing in the trolley. Amy was a bit otherwise at times, but enjoyed the outing and the free balloon and chocolate hearts she got. I suggested we went for to the Wimpy for lunch, for a change. I have not been to a Wimpy in years and craved a basic toasted cheese and tomato sandwich and a child-friendly restaurant. My sandwich was fine, despite the processed cheese and the tomato sauce with enough E preservatives in it to light up the bottle. Amy’s fish fingers had bright orange breadcrumbs on it that she was clearly too afraid to touch and I had to peel the fish out their unhealthy casing, for her to eat. The best was the burger my mom ordered. It had a really scary looking red florescent sauce all over it. A healthy meal – definitely not! Later we gasped as we looked up at a sign that proudly stated their burgers are “20% pure meat!” Makes you wonder what makes up the other 80% and why on earth they would be proud to advertise that fact?? Oh my word. I gave thanks I am a vegetarian!
Pass the veggies please

Wow – 20% pure meat, and they proudly advertise that! Actually, it is making me giggle, which is really inappropriate because it is actually quite scary!
geez..shocking. at least they advertise it I suppose whereas at macdonalds there is no advert but you sure as hell know its like ..5 % meat. thank goodness I am an almost vegetarian. LOL
xx
This is why I always tell my vegetarian friends/family that it’s perfectly fine to eat at McDonald’s – no meat in sight!!! I must say I can’t stand that kind of food – the bright sauces and all that stuff makes me cringe!!!! But I will admit that I love a Wimpy burger when travelling – it’s just something you have to do!!!
In a nightmare world I would be forced to eat “fast food” such places should be a dark secret, hidden from your children. Rather like the words Steak, Caviar and Prawns.
eeeuw.. thank goodness i am too. ugh.. hope your happy and well x
In defence of Wimpy, the place holds some fond memories for us as a family. When we were broke in the old days, Peter and I treated ourselves and Caroline ( as a non-vegetarian baby!) to a mini-mixed grill at the Wimpy in Milnerton. We loved it. And they still do a great breakfast when one is travelling on holiday by car! Perhaps all this PC advertising isn’t such a good idea? At least they ARE honest! And the kids got balloons and Amy a pink pen with wobbly eyes!
