I am addicted.

Last week I stumbled upon a book called ‘Twilight’ at Exclusive Books in Canal Walk and was intrigued by the story – a girl who falls in love with and becomes obsessed by a vampire. It sounded interesting, different and although not what I would usually go for (I am a crime fiction fan when I get a chance to read) appealed to me. I then read that it was about high school kids and I didn’t know if I wanted to read something juvenile, plus I don’t have too much extra cash for books these days so I resisted the urge to buy it and walked out the shop. The next day (Friday last week) Craig took some time off work and took my mom and I for lunch at the Waterfront. We had a wonderful meal at a Tapas bar called Salera and then browsed some shops. In the bookshop, I headed straight to a shelf with hundreds of copies of a book called “Breaking Dawn”. I read the blurb at the back of the book and was amazed that it too was about a girl in love with a vampire. It took a second or two for my brain to kick in and the blonde moment to go away, before I realized that this was the same author (Stephanie Meyer) and part of the same series. So, I bought Twilight, the first book in the series and haven’t looked back. It is pure escapism. I finished it in two days and I don’t have much time to read! I adored every minute of it. Essentially it is a love story, but with a difference. While I am sure it won’t be every one’s cup of tea, it definitely got to me, stirred my curiosity and even got me fantasizing about vampires (odd, I know, but you must read the book). I have already made Veronica an addict as well and am now tracking down the next in the series, “New Moon’. One thing that struck me about the book is that it would make a great movie or TV series. I went online to run a search and guess what? It is being turned into a movie. I didn’t want to be put off by the actors that got cast to play the Cullen family as in the book they are all out-of-this-world gorgeous, but curiosity got the better of me. Hi,
That series is the rage here too, everyone is reading it, or has read it and it is on my list. You give an excellent review, think I’ll have to buy it, but I have so much to read at the moment…

You beat me to it… I was going to do a post about these, since I’m addicted – bookworm that I am LOL! For anyone that has been suffering from HP withdrawal (esp. since there is no movie released this year either) you might be pleasantly surprised… I read the first book and I got hooked – there’s a bit of everything – romance, drama, suspense… while the books are marketed at teens how many of us “grownups” haven’t succumbed to the magic of HP through the years? Happy Reading!!! Hugs, xx
