I looked at her neck where the scratch used to be,
- an old wound, now completely healed.
I wondered whether her mind had as well.
She was the one who had been abandoned and lost
and yet she had rescued me.
I stared at her large, sad eyes
as I held her limp body in my arms.
Her breath was heavy.
The last moments of her life
tore at my heart.
I will never forget you my friend,
you were no average dog.

Oh sadness – I totally get it. Great choice of words!
*hugs*
So sorry. That’s a wonderful tribute, but so sad.
